Shape the Student Experience
Research. Study Abroad. Service. Career Exploration. High Impact Practices.
Fisher students are uniquely prepared through transformative opportunities that foster personal growth and intellectual curiosity. Experiential learning - education that happens both inside and outside of the classroom - bridges the gap between theory and practice and allows students to explore the possibilities of their future. Engaging in these high impact practices offers students experiences while they enhance their resumes, build transferable skills, develop deep and meaningful professional relationships with their faculty and peers, and contribute knowledge in their field that could impact the world around them.
Experiential Learning in Action
Students today must be prepared to communicate across borders and cultures so that they will be successful in an increasingly global society. Fisher students - both undergraduate and graduate - have many opportunities to learn and practice their craft abroad and harness those opportunities as they come.Learn More: Global Education
Engaging in research develops students prepared to creatively solve complex problems in diverse global workplaces. At Fisher, student researchers work alongside a faculty mentor to identify and explore research questions, and prepare and present their findings both at Fisher and beyond at regional, national, and international conferences.Learn More: Research Opportunities
Service is synonymous with Fisher. Inspired by our founding Basilian Fathers and their motto of “goodness, discipline, and knowledge,” our students have long been serving the Rochester community and beyond by lending their time and talents. Through the College’s new Institute for Civic and Community Engagement, that commitment to service will make an even bigger impact not only on our community, but on our students.Learn More: Community Service
Early opportunities to explore careers are critical to empowering students to make decisions that will shape their life after Fisher. Internships, job shadowing, and clinical experiences at the undergraduate and graduate levels not only help students better understand a field of study, but offer opportunities to develop career-specific skills that will give them the Fisher edge.Learn More: Career Exploration
